Quick answer

What does restaurant cleaning from Citywide include?

Citywide Maintenance Services cleans restaurants, bars, cafes and diners in Manhattan and across New York City after service. Work focuses on front-of-house areas: dining room floors and carpets, tables, chairs and banquettes, bar fronts, restrooms, entrances and glass, plus dusting, polishing, air vent covers and cobwebs. Kitchen hood and exhaust cleaning is not part of Citywide's services.

Cleanliness is part of the meal

Whether it is a casual diner, a bar, a cafe or a fine-dining room, how clean a restaurant looks is a large part of the guest experience. Guests notice sticky tables, crumbs in banquette seams, dust on light fixtures and, above all, the state of the restrooms. If the kitchen is visible, the standard is even higher.

Restaurants are also hard on a space. Food, grease, spills and moisture are constant, and harmful bacteria thrive where food and moisture meet. Busy Manhattan restaurants often turn tables late into the night and open again for lunch, leaving a narrow window to get the room back in order.

Two priorities in every restaurant

  • Surfaces hands and food touch

We clean and sanitize front-of-house surfaces that touch food, or touch hands that handle food, including restroom fixtures, door handles and bar tops.

  • A room that feels inviting

Floors and carpets thoroughly cleaned, dusting and polishing, air vent covers cleaned and cobwebs cleared from corners and ceilings.

Front-of-house areas and what they need

Our restaurant scopes focus on the areas guests use:

Front-of-house areas and what they need
AreaWhat a good scope covers
Dining roomTables, chairs and banquettes wiped, crumbs removed from seams, floors mopped and carpets vacuumed
BarBar front, rail and stools, back-bar shelving surfaces as agreed, floor mats and floors
RestroomsFixtures cleaned and disinfected, mirrors, floors, supplies restocked
Entrance and host standDoor glass and handles, host stand, menu holders, walk-off mats
Above the floorDusting light fixtures, ledges and decor, cleaning vent covers, removing cobwebs

What we clean, and what we do not

We are clear about scope. Citywide focuses on front-of-house, dining areas, restrooms and floors. Commercial kitchen hood and exhaust system cleaning is specialized work done by dedicated contractors, and it is not part of our services. Food-safety practices in the kitchen, and the inspections that go with them, remain the responsibility of your kitchen team.

Where you want back-of-house support, such as floors in staff corridors, the staff restroom or the area around the trash room, we can include it in the written scope after a walkthrough, with clear notes on what crews should and should not touch near food storage and prep areas.

After service, every night

Citywide crews are available around the clock, so cleaning can start after the last table turns, run overnight and finish before your opening crew arrives. Schedules can be nightly, several times a week or weekly, with one-time cleanings before a reopening or after a private event.

Every Citywide cleaner is a Citywide employee; we do not subcontract any of our work. Employees are background-checked before hiring, trained in our procedures and arrive in uniform. Citywide is bonded and carries full liability and workers’ compensation insurance, and uses environmentally friendly products in all of its work.

Floors, windows and sidewalks

Restaurant floors take spills, grease and heavy traffic. Periodic hard floor stripping, waxing and buffing or stone care, along with carpet and upholstery cleaning for banquettes, keeps the dining room from looking tired. Exterior window washing and sidewalk power washing look after the first thing passersby see. If you have a chandelier over the dining room, see chandelier cleaning.
